What's in the web for family physicians — CME webcast libraries

The Center for Continuing Education is an accredited provider of continuing medical education programmes certified by Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. A diversity of CME programmes is hosted at their website intended for medical professionals worldwide. The library of CME webcasts are audio recordings and are categorized into 38 medical specialties. The webcasts are also classified according to the nature of individual recording. The website is supported by a search engine to locate webcast with use of keyword search.

UPMC Physician Resources

UPMC Physician Resources, with their continuing medical education programmes, aim to allow medical professionals to improve their knowledge and skills and keep updated with the latest treatments and techniques. The programmes are in the form of case studies, newsletters, and videos. Contents are classified with specialty pages and additional CME programmes are added on a regular basis. The webcast library has good audiovisual quality, and with synchronized powerpoint slides. Titles are divided into 17 specialties with user-friendly searching capabilities.

Thanks to the task force on Continuing Education and Knowledge Translation & Exchange of the Department of Medicine, the Medical Grand Rounds at different affiliated hospitals of the faculty were all brought online. A growing library of CME webcasts is now available at the website. Apart from the city wide grand rounds, there are also MediNews abstracts and other accreditated rounds available at the website.

The Online CME section of the website offers a diversity of different CME programmes for family physicians. The current CME video is "Human Papillomavirus Prevention and Detection". There are also the 2009 AAFP Assembly lecture recordings, as well as the Ask-and-Act webcasts on tobacco cessation. The different CME programmes are put up to facilitate professional learning of family physicians and most activities are CME accredited.

UK Healthcare CECentral

The website has a library of CME webcasts hosted for online retrieval. Topics varies from nephrology, cardiovascular risk factors to H1N1 pandemic influenza. Webcasts of the Family Medicine Review 2010 Conference, one of the longest running courses with national recognition, are also available online. Lectures covered at the conference includes hypertension and cardiovascular risks, chronic pain management and female urology.

Chronic Liver Disease Foundation

Up-to-date and educational CME programmes designed for health professionals on different liver problems are available at the website. They aim to cover latest medical developments and the implications of such on patient management. Topics include management of patients with Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infection, Hepatocellular carcinoma and liver transplantation. Apart from the webcast library, there are also a slide library, journal abstract library, liver news, congress calendar available at the website.
