The OR-live website harbours a good inventory of CME webcasts categorised into different specialties. Viewers have to have RealOne player installed in their computer (available free on Internet). New webcasts are made available on a regular basis and the most recent ones are included. The webcasts are of good quality, some with synchronised powerpoint presentation slides.
Doctor's Guide Webcast Library
The Doctor's Guide website has a huge library of webcast archives for retrieval by doctors. Selection of topics can be narrowed down by choosing from a list of preset keywords. Free registration is needed, and the webcast will come through with the use of RealOne Player.
Netsurgery.com Webcasts
Archives of webcasts on different surgeries are hosted in this website on surgeries and procedures. They are categorised into different subspecialities of surgery. With streaming technology, a good library of webcast lectures can reach users with RealOne Player installed.
Clinical Directors Network
Live audio with synchronised presentation materials are streamed via the Internet to webcast users, who can register free to log on. Real time webcasts allow participants and presenters to create real-time interaction - questions answered by the presenter in real time, online chats, and online breakout sessions. The archives allow users to replay CME events from the past, allowing users to retrieve the library of previous webcast at a later time.
Public Health Training Network (PHTN) Satellite Broadcast and Webcast
The Public Health Training Network (PHTN) is a distance learning system maintained by Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of US government. A webcast on "Preparing for the return of SARS: are we ready?" recorded in late September is available online for training of health workers.
The Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons
The SAGES website has archived all presentations of their March meeting on Endoscopic surgery. Topics on new endoscopic technologies, hepato-biliary and pancreatic endoscopic surgeries, complications and video clippings of endoscopic surgeries were included. All video presentations were well produced and very educational. Media Player is needed for viewing these recorded videos.
Frontiers in Medicine
The website utilizes web-based streaming of audio, visual images, and real-time question/answer periods with presenters for CME delivery. The current topic is on type II diabetes.
