HKCFP QA Program

The HKCFP QA Program aims to maintain and improve the quality of care general practitioners (GP)/ family physicians (FP) in Hong Kong give to patients and promote the highest possible standards of care to the community.

The Program is open to all registered doctors in Hong Kong. All Fellows and Members of the HKCFP, except student & affiliate members are automatically registered with the QA Program at the beginning of each year.

Accreditation will be recorded throughout the years in the form of "credit points". At the end of the three-year cycle, a Certificate of Quality Assurance [QA certificate] will be awarded to those who have satisfied the requirements.

Quality assurance (QA) is the use of a monitoring system to measure performance against quality standard. Effective quality assurance can be achieved through a continuous self-improvement and outcome assessment of performance.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is the process of ongoing and uninterrupted learning and self-improvement for all individuals and teams, which enables professionals to expand and fulfill their potential in maintaining a high medical standard and an ever-improving quality of care that meets the need of patients.

The pre-requisite criteria for CPD activities in the primary care setting are:

A. Learner-focused;
B. Involving a review process;
C. Relevant to General/Family Practice;
D. Educationally effective.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) is the ongoing educational activities that keep individuals informed and up-to-date to maintain a high standard of professional practice.
